HP EliteBook 840 G8: a premium business laptop for everyday work
The HP EliteBook 840 G8 comes from HP's premium EliteBook line, the laptops large companies buy for their staff. It is fast enough for daily work, light enough to carry all day, and built to last for years. At DECIMART you get it at a fraction of its original price, checked and ready to use.
Performance
The 840 G8 runs on 11th Gen Intel Core processors with 4 cores and 8 threads: the Core i5-1135G7 or i7-1165G7, or the vPro versions (i5-1145G7, i7-1185G7) made for company IT management. It handles Microsoft Office, dozens of browser tabs, Zoom and Google Meet calls, and coding tools like VS Code without slowing down. Light photo editing and short 1080p video edits run fine too.
Graphics are Intel Iris Xe, built into the processor. Iris Xe needs two matched RAM sticks (dual-channel) to run at full speed; with a single stick it runs as Intel UHD Graphics. [Our 16GB laptops use two 8GB sticks, so Iris Xe runs at full speed.]
Display
The 14-inch Full HD (1920×1080) IPS screen has an anti-glare finish, so it stays easy to read under office lights. HP made three panels for this model: a standard 250-nit panel, a brighter 400-nit panel with 100% sRGB colour, and a 1000-nit Sure View privacy panel that looks dark from the side. The panel can differ between laptops, so if you need a specific one, message us before ordering.
Light, slim and built to last
The body is aluminium, 17.9 mm thin and from 1.32 kg, so it slips easily into an office bag. A keyboard backlight and fingerprint reader were optional, so they can differ between laptops. Ask us if you need them.
Ports and connectivity
Most people won't need a dongle:
- 2× Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C, 40 Gbps) for charging, external monitors and docks
- 2× USB-A (5 Gbps), one of which charges your phone while the laptop sleeps
- 1× HDMI 2.0b for a monitor or projector
- 3.5 mm headphone and mic jack
- Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0
Room to upgrade
Unlike many thin laptops, the 840 G8 has two RAM slots (up to 64GB DDR4-3200) and an M.2 NVMe SSD slot. Need more memory or storage? We can upgrade it before delivery; ask us for the price.
Battery and charging
The 53Wh battery charges to 50% in about 30 minutes with HP's 65W USB-C charger. Backup time depends on each battery's health, which we test on every laptop. Ask us about the battery of any laptop before you order.
Security and video calls
HP Wolf Security protects the BIOS with HP Sure Start, which can repair itself if it's corrupted or attacked. Bang & Olufsen speakers and AI-based noise reduction keep your calls clear.
Who it's for, and who it isn't
Good for: office and corporate work, freelancing, programming, students and online meetings.
Not for: modern 3D games, 3D rendering or long 4K video editing. It has integrated graphics, not a dedicated graphics
